Milton Rotary at National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 27, 2019.
This year's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 27, 2019 was sponsored by the Milton Police Department, the Milton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and the Rotary Club of Milton.
Lt. Charles Caputo of the Milton Police Department estimated that between 250 and 300 lbs. of medication was collected at the event, and at the kiosk in the lobby of the police department. The Rotary Club distributed 50 Deterra® pouches to enable residents to safely deactivate and dispose of their unneeded drugs at home, thereby providing a way of preventing drug misuse and protecting the environment.
Opiate abuse has reached crisis proportions: Nearly 20,000 Americans overdose on prescription pain medication each year. Deterra® Drug Deactivation Pouches can help keep prescription painkillers out of the wrong hands. The system has been independently lab-tested and scientifically proven to deactivate drugs, using a simple 3-step process.
